Inquisitive minds conquer frontiers… Be it geographical or investment ones. They venture into the Unknown and reap the rewards.

Such is the story of Baron Alfred von Hammerstein; a German born explorer and pioneer of Athabasca region in what is now Western Canada.

Baron von Hammerstein arrived to Athabasca some time late 19th century; initially lured by the gold rush in the neighboring Klondike and Yukon.

Soon however he realized the unclaimed Oil and Gas riches in Athabasca were a lot more promising venture. A gifted and adventurous entrepreneur, Baron Alfred von Hammerstein started securing land claims and drilling first oil wells in the Athabasca basin.

As the newly formed Province of Alberta was incorporated into Canada in 1905, the Hammerstein enterprise was charging full steam forward; being not just an Oil and Gas explorer and producer; but also the first private venture to supply the region with equipment for further industry development.

As a Swiss/Liechtenstein venture, we at Hammerstein Capital are inspired by the Baron Alfred von Hammerstein legacy. Like him, we aspire to bring Canadian riches closer to Europeans, and bring European Capital to the Western Canadian enterprises – and so the legacy lives on.
